Journeys to Lloyds

Our newsletter this year is in the form of this flyer.  As it's very wide and narrow, you'll need to scroll from side to side to see it all. And you can read about it and our Travellers' Tales from 2008 below.

Our 2008 flyer

The inspiration for this flyer, and our 2008 Christmas card, arose from a conversation with guests who after three visits have become friends. Jeannie and Mark were over from the USA for a short break in May. Jeannie opted to stay with us for a few days while Mark was doing the round of London publishers. We picked her up from Caersws, our nearest station, and this led us to reflect on the various modes of transport our guests use. Mark has employed his inimitable skills to represent this in a mythical journey to our front door.

And here are a selection of the comments guests have kindly made during the year.

Travellers' Tales from 2008

Safely back from our jaunt on Glyndwr's Way. Thank you for an excellent start to our journey. The memory of the time at your place lingers!

Tim & All, Lampeter, August

Thank you very much for your kind, generous and flawless hospitality. The food was as perfect as ever and still no repeated menu item, let alone menu! If only we could recapture the flavours.

Kit & Ann, Church Stretton, April
after their 15th visit since November 2001, and dining with us on approaching 40 evenings

I had seen your Christmas cards on the mantelpiece and heard Dad talking about Lloyds and how much he would like to visit for years, so it was a momentous occasion for us.

lan & Sarah & Olivia, Brussels, July

We all had a fabulous time, especially the meal Saturday evening. Another triumph!

Josephine & John, Gary & Carol, lan & Linda, Sue &. Harry, Neil & Sarah, Bryan & Linda, Darwen, November

Both 'girls' enjoyed their birthday occasion once again, with your trademark hospitality.

Alan, Ormskirk, October

The warm welcome and wonderful meals made our annual reunion with our cousins memorable. We have no plans to leave home until we come to Lloyds in 2009.

Mari & Jack, Isle of Wight, October

How you keep managing to do something different for us every time... and the effort you put into it all Is just amazing.

Gwen & Ruth, Rugely, September

Your gourmet dinners are so special and the ambiance really adds to the memorable occasions. Your breakfasts are wonderful too!

Margaret, Joy & Desiree, Alberta, Canada, September

You both work so hard to make us all feel cosseted — it really is like visiting good friends.

Jen & David, Cardiff, June

As always, you thoroughly spoiled us — from the flowers in the bedroom to the gastronomic delights of dinner and all points between.

Tim & Julia, Newbury, April

We love Roy's superb cooking — you are a hidden gem, Roy! It is always a pleasure to chat to other guests and diners, almost like being one of the family — and of course, Tom, we love your amusing anecdotes and witty repartee.

Beryl & Trevor, Stafford, May

Thank you so much for the carefully chosen dairy-free meal... worked out with such imagination.

Jean, Benson, Oxfordshire, August

A lovely night and excellent meal to celebrate my 21st birthday.

Wayne, Llanidloes, June

... and at all times there was a warmth about the atmosphere and service that is very hard to find in these hectic modern times.

Derrick, Wellington, New Zealand, August

Everything was faultless, our rooms beautiful, we loved your lounge and the food of course is exceptional. I admire your patience and hospitality.

Gill & Angle, Mottram St Andrew, January

Since his visit to your hotel many years ago, my grandfather spoke often of your hospitality and kindness. Thank you for keeping in touch with him with your Christmas cards: it meant a lot.

Debbie, Ontario, January

Back in Switzerland, dreaming about Wales. We remember the wonderful stay at your hotel. We never forget the most delicious dinner cooked by Roy and served by Tom (entertained)!

Margrit & Thomas, Bulach, June

When we can go next year to Eire, we want to have the usual pit-stop in Wales. That's become a traditional part of our journey!

Wicher & Mia, Maastricht, March
