All requirements fulfilled completely

Pros: Usual English food, presented very nicely and plentiful.

Cons: Cannot think of anything. It was all fantastic.

There is a good atmosphere and opportunity to get to know locals and other travellers.

Pros: It's a good location situated at a crossroad, so easy to find and not busy. The outlook over an orchard to the front of the property is delightful. The Bredwardine bridge over the Wye is a very short walk and Arthur's Seat a short drive from the accommodation. I would stay here again.

Relaxed and friendly

Pros: Lovely with a charm all of its own. It was the staff who made our stay so pleasant. The evening meals were restaurant standard. Would recommend it for that alone.

Quirky place for short stay with fishing rights.

Pros: Food in the evening was very good. Beautiful views from the room.

Cons: Very dated. Not a problem for us, but our room was up two flights of narrow stairs. Was extremely warm in the room due to hot weather, and the high location, small window and small fan, made the room uncomfortable. Should be aware of shared access of drive to carpark behind property,

Pros: Friendly staff and great location for a stay close to Hay-on-wye during Hay festival, but far enough that you get a good rest after a long day. Will definitely be coming back!

A perfect stay!

Pros: Relaxing haven to return to after busy days at Hay Festival. Friendly staff. Everything we needed and great value. A good hearty breakfast and great evening meal. The bar was β€œ the local” for the nearby community and at the weekend was packed and buzzing. Great beer on tap and good selection of wines and spirits. Dating back to 17C the hotel had an interesting history and was favoured by fishermen due to preserved fishing rights on the nearby River Wey. Set in beautiful countryside and well placed for walking. The medieval Arthur’s Stone is an hours walk away directly from the rear of the hotel.

Cons: That is was for sale due to the owner, Mike, retiring after over 40 years running it! Hopefully any new owners will maintain it as a hotel and to the same high standard.

Great fishing pub!

Pros: Its just a great fishing hotel/pub with very knowledgeable and helpful staff. Great beer and food too, and always a lively conversation to be had in the public bar
