Suberb stay

Pros: Staff are attentive ,prompt and very friendly. Location is perfect! Food is excellent!

Wonderful stay with wonderful staff

Pros: The hotel was very clean, was a beautiful countryside style and very welcoming. Was really warm especially seeing as the outside was covered in snow.

Cons: Only thing I wasn't sure about, and it's only a small niggle, was the room was maybe too hot during the night and a touch uncomfortable. Wasn't willing to open the windows due to how cold it was outside!

Pros: Cosy rooms. Very nice food. Drinks and shortbreads in the room were lovely. Breakfast had good options

Perfect in every way.

Pros: On arrival I was greeted by ‘Jess’ - despite clearly being rushed off her feet, she was so warm & welcoming and couldn’t do enough to ensure our stay was perfect. On learning that we would need to be leaving before breakfast would be served, Jess put together a picnic of fresh pain au chocolates,(probably the best I’ve ever tasted!) fruit and water to ensure we wouldn’t go without. Our room was lovely, the bed was super comfortable, and after a very busy day serving coffee at the Pearce Downhill Cycles event and the next day to be much busier, I knew I’d have the best sleep. And I did! Honestly cannot fault The Lion, lovely warm atmosphere with staff to match. Highly recommend this fabulous hotel, the manager should be proud of their staff and the hospitality they provide. Thank you x

10/10 across the board. Amazing food, comfy beds and spotless rooms.

Pros: The Lion is the perfect hotel, situated in a peaceful area by a stream. Food was excellent, beds were comfortable and rooms were spotless. Staff were also extremely friendly and helpful. I could not recommend enough!

Cons: There was a very bright green light on in the bedroom all the time, for fire safety.

Lovely couple of days away

Pros: The hotel was clean & welcoming. A lovely setting on the banks of the river. Breakfasts & evening meals were lovely.

Cons: We had a room at the front of the hotel overlooking the main road which was quite busy & noisy.

Pros: Very friendly staff, clean and fresh everywhere. Beautiful location by the river and good quality, freshly prepared breakfast.

Cons: Would have liked a slightly more ambitious menu in the evening.

Pros: There is nothing not to like. The location is superb, the staff are very friendly. The food was delicious both breakfast and the evening meal. The room was spotless and the bed was very comfortable

The Lion is a great venue for an enjoyable weekend away.

Pros: Lovely comfortable pub/hotel. Great friendly staff; excellent breakfasts - a great place all-round for a weekend break.
